Artist Statement:

I feel like art has been with me my entire life, I have always been creating things and loving doing it for as long as I can remember. I remember being very young, and my father showed me his sketchbooks with gorgeous chalk sunsets and watercolor mountains. I thought that chalk pastels and watercolors were amazing at that time. I would always wish to be as good of an artist as him, as well as my brother. My brother has been my main motivation and role model when it comes to art. I have always looked up to him and loved to watch him draw faces and wonder how he was so good at it. Although he is six years older than me, we have an inseparable bond that I feel like comes from our shared interests. Not only have I been surrounded by art in my family, but also in my everyday life. I can remember being fascinated by the world around me, and why certain things were the way that they were. I was always asking questions and trying to understand things, but I have felt that the best way to connect with the world around you, and to make sense of it is through art. I love creating, but I also love observing real things and expressing the beauty that they hold. I don’t know what I would do if I found no passion in art, because In my opinion art is life. I am a very emotional person, and I

feel like I feel things very intensely, so it’s beneficial to use my art to try and make something that someone else can look at and think, “that’s how I feel” or have an experience where art makes them think about things, and notice things they never would have before. Appreciating the Beauty In the small things in life, and trying to see the good and changing your perception of yourself occurs through art !
