Event Date: Saturday, June 14, 2025
Rain Date: Sunday, June 15, 2025

Roost Arts Hudson Valley and the School of Practical Philosophy and Meditation invite you to apply to be part of our first Plein Air Art event together at the Borden Estate on June 14, 2025 (rain date June 15).

We are collaborating to create an inspirational event that connects nature, art and community and are pleased to invite everyone that has a relationship with these wonderful nonprofit organizations, friends, family and members of the public.

This bucolic property has breathtaking views of the Shawangunk Ridge, rolling meadows, a farm, forests, spring-fed ponds, trails, and eagles. The Borden mansion was built by Marion Borden in 1906 and has been beautifully maintained and is in daily use. Also on the property is an historic Dutch Stone House built in 1787 and was owned by Marion Borden’s parents, and still in use. A koi pond, gazebos, fountains and gardens are some of the property features that will invite you to take a few moments to contemplate quietly. From many vantage points there are different perspectives and views of the Ridge.

We invite artists to apply, there are 25 spots available. There will be a juried selection.

In the past Roost Arts has collaborated with the Mohonk Preserve for a Plein Air walk and each year it has been tremendously successful, with 24 artists participating and about $10,000 worth of art sold. The events have attracted a robust number of visitors, and very positive reviews from participating artists and visitors alike! With this in mind we are expanding the opportunities to a new and exciting venue. We hope that you will apply to be part of it.

Accepted artists will create one work of art in the medium of their choice, on-site in plein air. The theme is nature and the outdoors, with suggested categories like Close Focus, A Wide Vista, Architectural Details, People in Nature, Expressive Landscape and Outside in Action.
